Belinda is happy to undertake a wide range of personal commissions.
Where possible she prefers to visit the
subject so she can observe the movement and character of the subject.
However where this is not possible Belinda is happy to work from
either photographs and/or video tapes.
After the first visit she works on a wax of the sculpture. At
this stage, she prefers to re-visit and work from a life setting.
When this process is completed and the client is satisfied with the
wax , she proceeds to make a sectional moulding rubber and plaster
jacket.
From this mould she takes a
hollow wax casting wax. Then a ceramic shell is placed around and within the wax.
On completion of this process, the wax is melted out of the shell and
the molten metal (bronze) is poured into
the shell.
After cooling, the shell is knocked away
revealing the cast of the bronze sculpture. At this stage a certain
amount of finishing work is carried out. This is kept to a minimum to
ensure that the original sculpture is preserved.
The last stage of the process is obtaining the
final patination of the bronze. With the use of heat she applies
different chemicals to alter the colouration of the bronze. This enables Belinda to depict different markings of animals as
well as producing an exciting and unique finish to her work. It
is this
final skill that is one of Belinda’s hallmarks.
All her bronzes are signed and numbered in the
wax. They also go to the client with a certificate of authenticity.

The photograph opposite is of ''Sprout Sillars' beside her bronze and
shows the likeness between the two. In particular, it portrays how the patination
can accurately reflect the subjects true colours. Many of Belinda's
edition bronzes can be adapted in this way to show likeness of
colour in an individual way. For example, a marking on a horse
or dog, or even to a lesser degree the colours of a jockey on a
particular horse. This can either be obtained from the use of
photographs, or by a visit to Belinda's working studio gallery.
Here you can to watch the patina work being carried out and view her
large display of sculptures available for sale.
